After the Drop, the Build

After the Drop, the Build

The start of this year felt like someone suddenly pulled the plug on the set. I lost a big client, and with them, the stability and confidence I had built over time.

The start of my entrepreneurship was shaped by landing a big client right away. At the time, it felt like a win. In reality, it made me cuddle into the wrong kind of comfort. I leaned too much on that one relationship instead of building something steady around it.

At first, I tried rushing forward. I pushed hard, set up meetings, even sat across the table from clients where we shook hands and agreed to work together. But once it came time to actually start — silence. Calls unanswered. Messages ignored. Ghosted. The harder I pressed, the harder the setbacks hit.

Frustrated, I tried the opposite: doing nothing. I thought maybe stillness would give me space to reset. But it wasn’t me. Doing nothing didn’t calm me — it drained me. Confidence slipped even further.

And that’s when it clicked.

I don’t function standing still.

Losing a client isn’t just about lost income. It’s about losing momentum, and for me, momentum is everything. Pushing too hard backfired. Stopping completely felt even worse. Both approaches taught me what doesn’t work for me. So now I am building again.

Confidence isn’t built by waiting for the perfect moment. Even small steps forward are better than standing still. Ghosted meetings and broken promises are frustrating, but they reminded me that rejection is part of the process and not a reflection of my worth. Whether it’s design, strategy, or starting something new, creating is where I find my balance and confidence.

Conclusion

Losing client was a big blow and it forced me to face the truth: I have to stop leaning on comfort and start creating my own foundation.

Doing nothing didn’t work. Rushing didn’t work. Building, step by step, consistently is what brings confidence and results.

Starting my company wasn’t just about work. It was about proving to myself that I can form my own rhythm.
